The ability for Directors to control whether any forum post is promoted to the front page or stickied has vanished. When they edit a post the 'Publishing Options' menu from where these settings would normally be controled exists but is empty.
This feature is controlled by the override_node_options module which has its own section in the permissions admin page and which appears to be correctly configured.
If you get a chance to have a look at this Aurian be careful to ensure that you don't inadvertantly revoke the ability for users to edit their own posts which I fixed a little while ago. I had hoped to document how the permission system is currently configured before having to do any work in this area again but haven't had time : /

I cleared the cache and used my alt with director role to login. I just started a forum post and checked if the publishing options for front page and stick were available. They seem to be working now.
Can you take a look and confirm?
I just logged in with Neutrino Test with BG Member and Director roles and if I try to edit the front page posts I see the Publishing Options menu, but when I try to open it it is empty.
What I have found so far...
A director can still promote a NEW post to the front page and sticky the post but once this is done, he loses the ability to unsticky or demote. He can't do anything with a post that has already been created.
Btw, can you demote or un-sticky the post since you have a different role?
Do you know if anything changed in the website?
I can unsticky and demote the post using this account which has admin access. I'm not aware of changing anything on the website that should have affected this.
Aurian, Neutrino,
Any news on this issue ? I tried to unsticky the promotion post for Roland, Tor and you Neut today, and wasn't able to.
Did you find a possible cause for this ?
Thanks,
I've looked at this issue a couple of times since the last update but drawn a blank so far I'm afraid.
I've done a lot more testing now and I'm finding something slightly different to you Aurian. I'm finding the override_node_options module is correctly giving users the ability to sticky or unsticky their own content, but they are just not able to modify the publishing options for anybody elses content.
Unless any director can distinctly remember stickying or unstickying someone elses post while only being able to control publishing options but no other options (in case administer node priviliges were inadvertantly active) I'm starting to suspect this might have been the way it always was. Rereading the module documentation there's nothing to suggest that override_node_options should give control over other users content, although I have come across some discussion to suggest that this might be a feature of a future version of this module.
Nevertheles we clearly need Directors to be able to sticky/unsticky and promote anyones content in the website so I've re-enabled administer node priviliges for Directors. So now when you edit a node you'll see a whole range of interesting options like 'Book Outline', 'Revision Information' and 'Authoring Information'. Please leave those well alone and just use the 'Published' and 'Promoted To Front Page' check boxes in 'Publishing Options'.

Thanks Neut, I was able to demote the message I wanted from the front page. I agree with you it's a necessary feature for the corp directors.
Cheers,
