I know this is deeply unlikely to be a high priority, but I often read the forums on a train on the way in to work using an HTC Magic Android phone. Unfortunately I have found that when it comes to posting, the phone registers the existence of the tool bar in the "Body" area for replies but where I would normally just touch a text input area to beging typing the phone just doesn't recognise the area I'm currently typing in as such. No problem putting a Subject in, annoyingly! Not sure why it isn't playing ball, but if there is any way to identify this area as a text entry field that might assist. Otherwise I shall continue to lurk. Just breaking silence to note this briefly but this sort of thing is generally frowned upon at work, so... Hm, interestingly I also don't see the plain text editor option I can see below here on the phone, either...

If it's any consolation.
It doesn't render right on a Sidekick either.
The only thing I can think you could do which might help would be to ensure you have the latest Java updates, or try a different browser.
I can't think of anything I can do really, I don't know if there is a PC android emulator and tbh I don't know when I'd have the time to play with it if there were.
Is it possible via user preference to disable the new editing bar?
I've had problems with it intermittantly on my desktop in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Occasionally it will just grey itself (and the whole text entry section) out. Disabling it would probably solve the problem for everyone.

I've seen the same intermittent problem Pian. Once it is grey, the only way I've been able to get the text entry area to work text is to exit the page and reload it. I'm using Firefox 3.5.2. It's a pain, but still usable at least.
I get that problem every once in a while. If I click in the text area it goes away and magically works. Mildly annoying, but not a big deal. It happens with both Safari and Firefox (latest and greatest versions of both).
The Magic doesn't seem to like Java applets. Javascript, fine. Odd, it's a Java-esque system I understand. Have to hope an upgrade comes along...

Regarding the issue of the editor greying itself out and becoming unresponsive, does this happen while you're actually using the editor (which I've never seen), or while the page is loading? If it's during page loading then I have seen that, but I don't think it's directly related to the editor. Quite often I have various pages only half load and then I need to refresh to get them to load fully. This often happens when submitting content to the forum, often the content is submitted but the subsequent page does not load fully, and I've seen a few people double posting which implies they're experiencing the same effect.
I've only seen it greyed out when the page is first loaded. Once I can start entering text, I've never had a problem.
Are you using Drupal to manage your blog? I've been using WordPress for a while now but am looking for something more powerful.
Bit of necromancy here; my new HTC Desire S still can't post here, nor can I use an iPad. It seems the applet just won't run properly as they are without pure Java as devices. Frustrating. Any chance of a javascript or other version?

Unless there is a recent update that would make a difference we would have to completely redo the forums and frankly that is simply way too much a hassle
